Lms solutions have incorporated wiki & blog software. they are as such only accessible inside the course environment and lack some features that are common to blog or wiki software like wordpress or mediawiki. basic functions do work, but still people may not get the point of wikis and blogs through these tools. the point and the differences are important aspects, i hope to get further insight in the next few weeks.
An upgrade without problems. I took this page as a guide: http://developersmind.com/2010/06/17/upgrading-wordpress-mu-2-9-2-to-wordpress-3-0/.
For per blog registrations the adaptations I made in wp-login.php in wpmu are still valid in wp 3.0:
According to this post with computer connected through the internet we are hitting another evolutionary process: The Third Replicator by Susan Blackmore: http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/08/22/the-third-replicator/.
Search engines for example are a sign that not all selection any more is done by human beings: “Each request to Google, Alta Vista or Yahoo! elicits a new set of pages — a new combination of items selected by that search engine according to its own clever algorithms and depending on myriad previous searches and link structures. This is a radically new kind of copying, varying and selecting, and means that a new evolutionary process is starting up.”
collecting literature. i have a special focus. a pragmatic one. ok, there are a million scenarios how those tools are used. obstacle: many times these tools are seen to be used best in social-constructivist educational settings. yet the problem is these settings are not reality.
today i found the edutech-wiki about Educational Technology: http://edutechwiki.unige.ch/en/Main_Page

The question about web 2.0 being common among students is of course of interest. With this question Martin Ebner and Walther Nagler deal in:
Ebner, M. & Nagler, W. (2010). Has Web2.0 Reached the Educated Top?. InProceedings of World Conference on Educational Multimedia, Hypermedia and Telecommunications 2010 (pp. 4001-4010). Chesapeake, VA: AACE.

Well, of course this does not exist. But there is a demand. And I could not find an open source alternative. Some possibility is to use Slideshare: Creating slides with audio on Linux for SlideShare.
Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5 (https://www.adobe.com/de/products/flashmediaserver/) unusually did not play .flv video. This video was placed in the application directory because of use of server-side actionscript.
There was an error message concerning getStreamlength which was solved by the following lines of code in main.asc:
p_client.getStreamLength = function( streamName ) {
trace(“length is ” + Stream.length( streamName ));
return Stream.length( streamName );
}
This, however, did not solve the problem.
I opened the video with avidemux (http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/), saved the video and this was it.
